LIONSGATE’S DEBMAR-MERCURY TO LAUNCH DAYTIME TALK SHOW NICK CANNON THIS FALL
FOX Television Stations will be the Anchor Group for the Versatile Artist’s Nationally Syndicated, New York-Based Weekday Talker
New York and Los Angeles, January 28, 2021 – Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury today announced it will launch its nationally syndicated daytime talker Nick Cannon this fall.
FOX Television Stations will be the anchor group for the versatile artist’s New York-based weekday talker produced and distributed by Debmar-Mercury. Additional groups will be announced.
Nick Cannon will deliver the daytime audience an exciting, fun and uplifting show reflecting the multi-talented performer’s unique and seamless brand of celebrity, music, comedy and pop culture.
Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus, co-presidents of Debmar-Mercury, said, “We, along with our many other strong broadcast partners, are excited to be able to bring Nick’s unique, light-hearted and entertaining style to the daytime audience starting this Fall.”
Cannon added, “It’s been a longtime dream of mine to host my own daytime talk show and that I’m able to do this in New York City, bringing daytime television back to the place that has fostered generations of talent, is very special to me. With this show, we’ll be uniting all aspects of entertainment in a unique way in the very place where a lot of what we know today as our culture started. I couldn’t ask for better partners than Debmar-Mercury and FOX and thank them for supporting me in this endeavor.”
Cannon, who hosts TV’s No. 1-rated entertainment show, FOX’s celebrity competition series The Masked Singer (set for two more installments this year), will executive produce the talk show alongside his longtime manager, Michael Goldman; and showrunners Katy Murphy Davis and Matt Strauss. Davis (The Oprah Winfrey Show, Red Table Talk) and Strauss (The View, The Dr. Oz Show, Katie) are both longtime, Daytime Emmy Award®-winning producers.
His attention turns to daytime talk after more than 20 years as a host, comedian, actor, producer, rapper, writer, director, deejay, philanthropist, children’s book author and activist. He has crushed primetime as host of two buzzworthy hit network series – most recently hitting all the right notes as host and a producer of FOX’s dominant hit series The Masked Singer; and for eight seasons with NBC’s talent competition series, America’s Got Talent (AGT). Nick is also the host and producer of the nationally syndicated radio show, Nick Cannon Radio.
The versatile artist is also known for his work as Creator, Host, and Executive Producer of the sketch comedy show MTV’s Wild ‘N Out, which recently aired its 15th season. Wild ’N Out has been influential in developing the careers of Kevin Hart, Pete Davidson, Kat Williams, DC Young Fly, Mikey Day, and several other successful comedians. Additionally, the entertainment mogul has collaborated with Will Smith, Future, Migos, Ty Dolla $ign, and others on personal music projects. As a music business curator and label head of Ncredible Entertainment, Nick has helped discover and develop award-winning talent such as H.E.R. and Kehlani, while continuously curating a roster of groundbreaking talent that will dominate the airwaves and music landscape through highly anticipated releases from the Ncredible Gang, Lil’ Dope Boy, Suave, Black Squad, and Justina Valentine.
